Freedom Festival returns from 20th August!

Hull’s award-winning international arts festival (and Digital Democracies partner) Freedom Festival returns for the 14th consecutive year from Friday 20 August – Sunday 5 September 2021.

The first events to be announced as part of this year’s festival include work from renowned installation artists, playful theatre-makers, and immersive sound designers. As ever the festival brings exceptional art from across the globe to offer epic and intimate moments for audiences in Hull.

The producers of Freedom Festival believe that artists can change the narrative, enrich our society and give artistic expression to themes of democracy, identity, human rights and freedom.

Amongst the first wave of work to be announced for Freedom Festival 2021 are Luke Jerram’s inspiring installation GAIA (earth), Daryl Beeton’s poignant and funny family show A Square World, Duncan Speakman’s ecologically-conscious augmented audio piece Only Expansion and Blast Theory’s Rider Spoke, which invites participants to explore Hull on a journey of discovery on two wheels!
